Dydek enters the final phase of recuperation with her foot

9/29/2006 Polish star Margo Dydek, the tallest female basketball player in the world at seven feet, two inches, looks favorable to recover quickly from a fracture of one of the toes of her right foot. Dydek suffered the injury in the early round of tournaments she recently played with the Polish national team.
Ros Casares News Release
Jorge Mora, chief of traumatology for Ciudad Ros Casares Valencia, saw Dydek this morning in the Quiron de Valencia clinic and evaluated her x-rays on Thursday. The diagnosis shows that the fracture is healing gradually and that Dydek is entering the final phase of the recuperation process. The doctor did not want to name an exact date for Dydek’s return to training, but said it would depend on her improvement day-to-day. Her condition will not impede the rest of Dydek’s gym workouts, and will allow her to use a program specifically coordinated for her by trainer Javier Mundina and physical therapist Victor Bayarri. The club will announce Dydek’s incorporation into regular training with her teammates as soon as her recovery is complete.
Opportunity knocks for Spaniards Elisa Aguilar and Laia Palau – since their participation in the World Championship in Brazil – and for the German Anne Breitreiner, who played in the European preseason tournament with her national team. All three passed their physicals with flying colors, both in the Institute of Sports Medicine and the Quiron Clinic, and this afternoon will begin their first practices with the rest of the players already with the team.
In other news, Australian Megan Moody, a 6’1” wing, has left Valencia after finishing her stipulated term of training under the orders of Esteban Albert, starting last preseason on September 4. The technical corps will consider all options and decide whether to bring her back or release her.
